{"id":590,"date":"2014-09-17T12:02:56","date_gmt":"2014-09-17T19:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seanism.com\/blog\/?p=590"},"modified":"2014-09-17T12:15:11","modified_gmt":"2014-09-17T19:15:11","slug":"unable-to-access-sharepoint-in-firefox-on-os-x","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seanism.com\/blog\/2014\/09\/unable-to-access-sharepoint-in-firefox-on-os-x\/","title":{"rendered":"Unable to access SharePoint in Firefox on OS X"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Firefox recently disabled pre-NTLMv2 authentication in Firefox 30. \u00a0This can cause issues in SharePoint and other IIS based sites.<\/p>\n<p>To re-enable NTLMv1 support\u00a0type <strong><code>about:config<\/code><\/strong> in the location bar, click the &#8220;I&#8217;ll be careful&#8221; button, find\u00a0<strong><code>network.negotiate-auth.allow-insecure-ntlm-v1<\/code><\/strong>, double-click on it to change the value to\u00a0<strong><code>true<\/code><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-596 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/seanism.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Screen-Shot-2014-09-17-at-12.08.16-PM.png\" alt=\"NTLMv1 Error 401\" width=\"509\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seanism.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Screen-Shot-2014-09-17-at-12.08.16-PM.png 509w, https:\/\/seanism.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Screen-Shot-2014-09-17-at-12.08.16-PM-300x213.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 509px) 100vw, 509px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below is what Firefox wrote in their release notes.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>NTLMv1 auth has been disabled, NTLM support on non-Windows platforms is now deprecated<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a class=\"external external-icon\" href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=828183\">Bug 828183 \u2013 Firefox enables insecure NTLM (pre-NTLMv2) authentication<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"external external-icon\" href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=999306\">Bug 999306 \u2013 Allow generic NTLM v1 if pref set<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"external external-icon\" href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=1023748\">Bug 1023748 \u2013 Allow NTLMv1 over SSL\/TLS, or intranet access is broken on Firefox 30 for non-Windows platforms<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The support for the NT LAN Manager version\u00a01 (NTLMv1) network authentication has been disabled because it&#8217;s known as insecure. Companies and organizations still deploying the older protocol should upgrade to NTLMv2. See <a class=\"external external-icon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janbambas.cz\/ntlm-v1-and-firefox\/\">Honza Bambas&#8217; blog post<\/a> and <a class=\"external external-icon\" href=\"https:\/\/groups.google.com\/d\/topic\/mozilla.dev.planning\/JbrpDmqDLXI\">Jason Duell&#8217;s post to the dev-planning list<\/a>\u00a0for details.<\/p>\n<p>This is affecting SharePoint-based or IIS-backed intranet applications. If you encounter any problems on Firefox\u00a030 or later, you can manually enable NTLMv1 using a preference.
